Arundel Kitchen Project
Arundel was a small kitchen renovation project in London.
The client loved the idea of creating a moody kitchen space, which is why the project includes a lot of dark wood. For the bar area, a chunky piece of iroko wood was installed, with floating shelves to match. The cabinetry was Sherwood Black, with Armac Martin pull handles in brass to compliment and enhance the warm tones. Similarly, the Perrin and Rowe taps are also in brass, including a hot tap.
Cabinets
The client was tall; therefore, the design includes 910mm cabinets to raise everything from the ground, making it a tailored space to give the client a better life. The worktop was a composite stone, which was trialled and tested by the client vigorously (with teabags, turmeric, etc.) to ensure it was hard wearing. It was!
Tailoring the design for the client, above the fridge was a special section for their favourite water bottles. This was made to measure.
Hob
The project was in a ground-level-basement apartment; therefore, the boiler was concealed below the hob to make the design seamless. This is the reason why there are no drawers underneath as you’d typically expect. Behind the hob, Mile tiles were used to add a pop of colour as well as brick slips to compliment the industrial and masculine finish. For flooring, the design includes tiles from Capietra, which have a ‘worn’ finish to pull the kitchen together and to draw your eye down to the Juliet balcony.
True Testimonials
“Working with Day True and Jemma on my kitchen was a pleasure. I already had a few ideas but had run out of inspiration when Jemma added new life to the project, introducing me to materials, finishes and products I simply wasn’t aware of. We had a few differences regarding final layout and the incorporation of certain items but, luckily, Jemma prevailed and was right; the outcome is better than I could have imagined. The whole process was fuss-free, helped by Jemma’s meticulous approach to design and sourcing – once you’ve agreed the plan, you can leave it all to her. If you get the chance to work with Day True, even just for one room, it’s well worth it.”
