Elmfield Kitchen & Bathroom Project
Kitchen | Bar | Family Space | Bathroom
Elmfield was a kitchen and bathroom renovation project for a young family with two children. Coming to us with an extension, Day True liaised with the project manager and architect to design a beautiful multifunctional kitchen-dining area.
Inspired by our Wimbledon showroom, the couple loved our garden room with its exposed beams – painted in Farrow and Ball’s ‘railings’. They also appreciated the exposed brick walls, engineered wood flooring, and the mix of different textures throughout the lower floor. This was the starting point for the design.
Kitchen
The kitchen was designed with the whole family in mind, being a communal space for relaxing and entertaining. The clients regularly invite their friends over, therefore it was decided from the get-go that a bar area would be a great addition to the design. The kitchen was placed in the main area, with an exposed beam to divide the bar and dining area.
The kitchen cabinetry has flat doors, sprayed in a dark blue, with light monochrome geometric tiles to break up the space behind the sink. It features a waterfall island with a light colour worktop in ‘stone eclipse bianca’ This material is great for family life, as it is hard-wearing and non-porous. To make a statement, the thickness was increased to create a great breakfast bar too.
To complement the wall tiles, geometric lights were included within the design to draw your eyes upwards.
Bar
Bespoke and tailor-made, the bar was a metal powder-coated black, with brick slips behind to mimic the original wall and to compliment the exterior.
Family Space
Opposite to the bar, a family space was designed with open shelving to display family photos and memories. Shallow storage was also included here, with large cupboards to store board games and other fun.
